First Day, First Grade

The Big Boy's First Day of First Grade fell 2 days after the Baby Boy's First Birthday... just like last year, when he started kindergarten while I was still in the hospital. At least I was here this time. I rephrase- I was delighted to get to deal with Little Miss in the background after her Dad and Brother pulled out of the driveway. It was a loooonnnng day.

The Baby Turns One...

What a sad day for me... my baby is one. Whereas it is exciting to watch him grow and change, it still is hard to witness this transformation from my little baby to Daddy's little boy.

Sigh.
Jake's favorite present- a Radio Flyer. The kids are still fighting over this one and I dare not move it to the basement. It is a Tile Standard now.
The fam came over and we had dinner. I asked Jake what he wanted to eat for his Big Day and he gave me this look that said "whatever is easiest, for you, my Beloved Mother."

Pizza it is.
My friend Sunny makes delightful cupcakes. We had Key Lime (my choice) and Vanilla on Vanilla (for the boring people).

Jake loved his cupcake

a lot. Including the crumbs.

All 5 in one shot... miracles happen

Daddy gave the Birthday Boy his Birthday Bath

Jake pushes his new dump truck around with all of his new balls. We had to start over on construction toys... the others have had a long 5 years of service. The new ones aren't going outside until at least Spring time so we can play inside with them all winter.
Grandpa came over for the big day
Snuffles #3 joins the family. He is living in the crib presently.
Cousin James comes over to check out the new fire truck while Jake is distracted by someone attempting to tame his voluptuous head of hair that his dad wants to cut.
